Smith company story

Smith was founded by Dr. Bob Smith in 1965. He developed the first sealed thermal lens with breathable vent foam. The first goggles were hand built from outside his garage, which he sold during weekend ski trips in Utah and Colorado. In 1969 Smith took his design and started producing the Smith Original ski goggle with a contract manufacturer.

Over the years Smith optics developed into a leading American brand specializing in high-quality eyewear and helmets for various sports and outdoor activities. Smith stands out through innovations. Thus, they developed the first ski goggle with a dual-lens and breathable foam, setting a new industry standard. And more recently they developed the 4D MAG featuring BirdsEye Vision and ChromoPop lens technology, increasing the view by 25%.
